Transformational adventures: I organize ropes courses because they provide an opportunity to push beyond the limiting beliefs that stop you! I first did a Ropes Course in October, 2004 – and I wasn’t going to do the climbing in a tree part because I had lots of reasons – arthritis, fear of heights, lack of balance – and I would just be the organizer (my comfort zone) and support the group from the ground. Well, in just taking it on until my body said no, and standing in the intention of breaking through my limiting beliefs, I did all of the elements (as they are called) – and on the final one, standing on top of a 25’ pole, in the nanosecond when I jumped off and I was suspended in air, I let go of my limiting beliefs….and I haven’t taken any arthritis medicine since. And now I organize existing groups or create groups of individuals to take the Ropes Course so everyone can have the experience of breaking up those limiting beliefs!
And the Landmark Forum is transformational education – causing you to give up the limitations of the past and create anything you want in your life! Check out the website and read about the rating of the Landmark Forum as an adventure second only to space travel!
Creative Adventures – pottery painting, taking photographs (focus on finding any theme in the world around you, like faces, for example), art in the sand, fairy houses, altered book art, collages, learning to act, write, poetry, etc. I just took a group to You Do The Dishes in Tampa and we had a great time exploring our own meanings of creativity!
Quiet Adventures – take up meditation; or take your worries to the beach and write them in the sand and watch the water wash them away; collect shells and describe their beauty or structure as an analogy for something in your life; participate in a retreat, even in your own backyard. A friend and I went to the beach and we talked about the things we were concerned about, the things that were keeping our spirits from being free and soaring. Then we wrote them in the sand and let the waves wash them away. Afterwards, we decided, since there wasn’t anyone on the beach, to take our clothes off and really do a complete ablution of fears and concerns. Just as we were about to get out of the water, along came some people and we waited and waited and waited for them to leave. When they didn’t leave, we figured we had only one choice, to act as though we had clothes on and just walk from the water to the place where we had left our clothes and get dressed. And so we did! What an adventure that we laugh about every time we get together!
Learning Adventures – what do you know that you can teach your neighbor? What does your neighbor know? What about local learning facilities? Local history museums, art centers, clubs and support groups, colleges and university lecture programs, continuing adult education. Or exploring back roads and small towns and talking with the locals to find out what it is that they love about the place an that you shouldn’t miss since you may not come this way again!
